ALESSANDRA DRAGONI
Born in Ravenna, after humanistic studies (Ravenna, Venice) she moves to Amsterdam during the eighties, working in the archives of ABC Press photo agency while studying photography at De Moor, Stichting for education of film and photography in Amsterdam.
Later in Paris (Libèration,Magnum) and Milan (Mondadori, Rizzoli) either as archivist, photographer and photo editor. In 2004 she moves back to Ravenna and studies photography with professor Guido Guidi at the Accademia di Belle Arti, collaborates with Institutions conducting photography labs for kids.
Her work is the result of a long journey into the photographic language, from commercial photography to the sophisticated ways of great contemporary authors, allowing her to develop a peculiar and quite unique approach, either in curating than in shooting and editing work.
Currently busy on long lasting projects that mostly start out by taking pictures out of pure pleasure and inspiration and lately become bodies of work and book projects.
Recent collaborations as artist and curator include Ravenna Festival, Osservatorio Fotografico, Linea di Confine, Biblioteca Classense, Mar museo della città di Ravenna, Marmo libreria d!arte contemporanea, Cristallino Arti Visive, Museo Varoli.
Her work has been exhibited at Les Rencontres d’ Arlés and Paris Photo, Italian Institute of Culture in New York and Rome Photography Festival.
The artist’s archive starts back in the eighties and is made of thousands of photographs, either in color and black and white, analog and digital, prints and files: subjects being commissioned work and projects developed through the years.
