HOSE DAYS OF DELUGE was born in 2016 in response to the Open Call for an artist residence of Le Murate, Contemporary Art Projects and the MUS.E Association of Florence. The call required the presentation of an unpublished project, involving young artists and students in a workshop.
Fotoromanzo Italiano proposed to set up an editorial staff for the realization of a story set in the present which, through narrative stratagems, could talk about the relations that the river Arno has with the city of Florence and the areas connected with the riverbed.
We have been especially interested in the stories and facts of the present that arise from this epochal event that has now entered the Italian collective imagination: it's been History the distant background we drew from. There, engraved in the memory and in the present of the protagonists of the events, we found our inspiration.
This work gave everyone the opportunity to confront, to reflect on design themes and methodologies, artistic choices, theoretical-practical criticism and to think about the artistic process itself as a pice of art. Therefore, we would like to thank all those who participated, the artists and the students who formed the editorial office, as well as the actors who gave their faces and their time for a job that has created many relationships and that, deepening some aspects of this event, has brought us closer to the understanding of reality.
After all, can we deny that it is just the fiction one of the most effective systems to tell the truth of things of the world?
